COMMUNITY EVENTS FOR CANDLELIGHTERS
Candlelighters partners with groups in the community who raise funds in support of childhood cancer families each year. Community events are a HUGE asset to our daily programs and services we provide to children with cancer and their families, making up about 1/4 of our annual fundraising dollars. Thank you to all our community event partners!
ANDY ALLEN CLAYS FOR A CURE CHALLENGE
The Andy Allen Clays for a Cure Challenge was created in 2014, the year that Andy Allen relapsed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), by a group of volunteers who considered the Allen family …… well, “family.” They simply had to do something to help Andy and others like him. Now 6 years later, the clay shoot includes several childhood cancer Ambassadors who have each chosen a charity of choice to benefit. Thanks to Candlelighters kid and childhood cancer survivor, Jacob Munoz, Candlelighters is the Silent Auction beneficiary of the clay shoot. You can bid online too! Stay tuned for the 2021 date, as we raise funds for the childhood cancer community in Houston!
ASTROS FOUNDATION CHARITY GAME

The past two years their focus has been on childhood cancer and have gifted Candlelighters more than $200,000 to fund our programs and services for childhood cancer families and more than 500 tickets to send childhood cancer families to a ball game. Stay tuned for the 2021 date!
CROSBY FAIR AND RODEO
Each February the Crosby Fair and Rodeo committee hosts Bras for a Cause; an event where men from the Crosby community design and model bras all to raise funds for cancer families in the community. Yes, you might have to see it to believe it! Since 2017, they have awarded more than $87,000 for Candlelighters programs and services to support childhood cancer families. Stay tuned for the 2021 date!

TEAM REJOYCE WASHER TOURNAMENT
After losing their mother to a long, hard fought battle with cancer, Joyce’s family decided it was time to fight back. In 2009, Team ReJoyce was created, and what started out as a small fundraiser in their backyard has turned into a community-wide annual event. It is their goal to fight this awful disease and to help ease the burden from those currently facing this challenge. Team ReJoyce’s annual Weekend of Hope has been canceled for 2020. Please stay tuned for the 2021 date.
We’re always looking to partner with community members! If you’re interested in having Candlelighters as a beneficiary of your event or looking to start an event, please contact our Development Director, Kelsey Tarpinian at [email protected] or (713) 270-4700.
